Today you will continue researching and also gather pictures for your chosen Meso-American culture Powerpoint presentation.
Use the links at the Heights Website to gather information about your particular culture and cultural universal. Over the next couple of weeks you and your partner will create 8-10 slides with the information to form a comprehensive slideshow for your civilization. For the first slide of your show, create a Wordle with words that represent your civilization. Below is a sample of one culture and one cultural universal.

Biography Powerpoint

Today we will set up your Biography Powerpoint presentation. Download a picture of your person. Include the following information on your slides.

1. Title Page with picture
2. Personal Background- major events in person’s life
3. Personality Traits
4. Significance- Why was this person important
5. Obstacles
6. Important Quote
7. Credits

We will use the iPads and the app FaceTalk to creatae your person speaking the quote. We will then insert the movie into the quote slide. Click to see my example below.

Digital Poetry Anthology

Today you will use Powerpoint to compile the poetry which you have written this year into a digital anthology. Use one slide per poem, including the type of poetry it represents in the heading. Create a slide for the title page and an About The Author slide. Choose a background that goes well with each slide, and be creative with your presentation. Also, the slide show should advance on a click with the same transition between each slide. Record yourself reading the poem with the build in record sound feature in Powerpoint.

Landform Flipbook

Today you will use Google Earth to find four examples of landforms. Save the images in a new folder called Landforms. Don’t forget to save a picture of the Earth for your title slide. We will create a flipbook by inserting the images and definitions for each landform into PowerPoint and printing them two slides to a page.

Today you will research the cultural elements of the Maya, Incas, and Aztecs. Use the links at the Heights Website to gather information about your particular culture and cultural universal. Over the next couple of weeks you will create 2-3 slides with the information, which will be combined with other members of your group to form a comprehensive slideshow of each of the civilizations. For the first slide of your show, create a Wordle with words that represent your civilization. Below is a sample of one culture and one cultural universal.

Pumpkin Math

Today you will use a template in Powerpoint to create a Pumpkin Math Book. You will be sorting, regrouping, adding and writing two number models. You will choose one of your number models and write a number story about it in your classroom. Next week you will type your number story into your Pumpkin Math book and print your book. The template is in the group folder.

Artist Biography Slide Show

Today you will begin to set up your Powerpoint Slide Show based on your biography book of a famous artist. It must include the following slides:

  1. Title Slide with the name, picture, birth, and death of your artist. Also include your name of this slide.
  2. Biographical Events Slide- choose three events in the artist’s life that had an influence on him or her
  3. Artist Style- include a short paragraph in the style of the artist and an example of a piece of work that illustrates the style
  4. Gallery- include a picture of a piece of work and a short paragraph about the piece
  5. Bibliography page- include the book source and websites where you obtained pictures.

Planet Postcard

This week you will begin to create a giant postcard based upon the planet that you have been researching. We will use two slides in Powerpoint for your postcard. You will find two pictures for Slide 1, the outside of the card. For Slide 2, the reverse side of the card, you will insert an image for a postage stamp from the planet and write a friendly letter incorporating some of the facts that you researched. We will print the slides and gluestick them to card stock creating an 8.5″x11″ postcard.

Animal Slide Show

Today we will make your Massachusetts animal research come alive by creating a PowerPoint slide that includes a picture of your animal, the sound that your animal makes, and YOU narrating five facts about your animal. Mrs. Stewart and I will combine all the slides into one presentation to share with classmates and parents.

Famous African-American Woman Slideshow

Today you will learn how to use Powerpoint to create a slideshow presentation of the famous African-American woman that you have researched. You will learn how to gather and insert pictures, create bulleted lists, animate text, and add slide transitions. Your Powerpoint should include 4-5 slides: a title slide, 1 slide on obstacles which needed to be overcome, 1-2 on Achievements/Contributions, and one on Attributes of the individual. Use the storyboard that you completed in the classroom to guide you.
