Today we will use the iPads to take pictures of 3D objects in your classroom. We will use PicCollage to gather the pictures together, label them and outline where they are in the picture.

Polygon Creatures
Today you will use Kid Pix to create a polygon creature. You will use the polygon tool and may choose any colors you like. After you print, you will write a paragraph in the classroom about your creature and type it in the lab on Stationery Studio.
Geometry in the Real World
Today Mrs. Stewart’s and Ms. O’Brien’s class will work collaboratively in creating a geometry book using the iPads. You will work with your learning buddy to
- Travel around the school in search of geometric shapes that can be found in everyday items and photograph them using your iPad.
- Fill out the storyboard for your book including the name of the shape and the properties of the shape.
- Use Explain Everything to put together your book, outlining the shape in your photograph and recording your script onto each of the pages, complete with annotations.
Shapes
Today we will use the Investigations Shape software to explore and design pictures with shapes. We will also use the puzzles portion and use the shapes to complete the puzzles.
Purpy’s Shapes
Today we will learn all about shapes and where to find them in our environment. Click on the picture below to help Purpy find shapes.
Geometry Scavenger Hunt
Today we will use the iPads to take pictures of geometry shapes in the real world- our classroom. We will use the app Pic Collage to create a collage of our shapes. Use the pencil tool to outline the shape and then label it with the text tool. We’ll save it and put everyone’s together into a Shape Book.
Geometry Glog
Let’s grab the digital cameras and find objects around the school that represent different geometry terms. We will then create a Glog at GlogsterEDU describing which term is shown in the picture. Give a definition of the term as well. You will create two Glogs and link them since you will need extra space for 12-15 pictures.
Shape Art
Explore the Shapes software and see what kind of picture or design you can make using the polygons. You’ll learn how to flip, rotate, and change the color of the shapes. Try the Pattern Block puzzles if you have extra time.
