Today we will put your newly acquired keyboarding skills to work! We will learn how to use Microsoft Word to set up a heading, set tab markers, center text, and use the first line indent for paragraphs. Key in your writing prompt once you have setup your heading and title. Next week we will learn how to double space and use the grammar and spelling check.
To complement your keyboarding lessons in the classroom, today we will learn how to use the software Type to Learn. We will be using keyboard covers to cover our hands. Your goal today is to complete Lesson 1 in the software.
Cumulus, Stratus, Nimbus, oh my! Grab the digital cameras- we’re heading outside to lie down in the playground field to take pictures of clouds! We’ll write a poem about them and put them in Powerpoint, adding our picture of the clouds as the background. Next, we will create an avatar for our identity on Voicethread using My Avatar Editor. Finally we will create a class Voicethread of our poems.

In the first activity, you will use common weather symbols to create a weather map to report the weather. In the next activity, you will use temperature, precipitation, and cloud coverage to predict the weather in various regions.

Grade 3 has been doing a great job learning how to keyboard in the classroom. It’s time for an introduction to the lab.
Today we will assign seats, review the rules of the lab, make sure everyone can log in, and review the dock and the Heights Technology Blog. We will also learn how to create a folder to store all of last year’s documents.
